The technology used to create the electronic person who can communicate with us like humans based on the convergence AI with robotics is not something that can be achieved in the distant future. Rather, we can expect to meet them soon with the technology commercialization. An intelligent virtual assistant that can perform tasks or services for an individual after learning his/her patterns in everyday life, face recognition-based walk-through access control, AI security to protect the citizens, companion robots to provide companionship for the elderly in the contactless era, AI·robotics for smart factories help us understand where we are in terms AI·robotics that are adopted fast across the entire society and industry. As Korea's largest AI and robotics research institute, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Institute is carrying out R&D activities on core technologies of AI, next generation media, and robot to resolve pending issues of our society and industry. Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Institute is taking the lead in the efforts to secure outstanding performance of Korea on the global stage by converging the technologies encompassing all those areas.
By selecting critical technologies in AI and robotics and focusing its research efforts in those selected areas, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Institute aims to secure original technologies to become one of the world's leading institutes in the corresponding areas, build a platform where convergence with AI, robotics, and ICT and applications are allowed, and develop a new advanced system to resolve national, public, and social issues or enable technology commercialization. About 250 researchers with the best core capabilities in AI and robotics are working hard to achieve such vision in the institute.
Currently, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Institute consists of three research centers (including Center for Artificial Intelligence, Center for Intelligent & Interactive Robotics, and Center for Healthcare Robotics). Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Institute is always with us like the air we breath to research and develop the technologies that we need the most.
