Center for Artificial Intelligence focuses on developing core and innovative technologies that are essential to connect human, thing, robot, and place altogether, create the hyperconnected space where the virtual world is barely indistinguishable from the real world, and provide human-friendly AI services..
Starting from the research on interactions between the human and media in 1997, Center for Artificial Intelligence has been conducting research on advanced and original technologies in areas including virtual reality and augmented reality, ubiquitous computing, multimodal interaction, nondestuctive testing using electromagnetic wave, 3D stereoscopic video, machine learning and AI.
Based on the outstanding research capabilities, Center for Artificial Intelligence has implemented large government R&D projects such as Global Frontier Project in 2010, Giga Korea Project in 2018, Advanced Integrated Intelligence for Identification (AIID) Development Project in 2018 and AI-based Fault Detection, Analysis and Diagnosis Technology for Power Plant Project in 2018 and provided future directions on technology development to the academia and industry.
Center for Artificial Intelligence now focuses its efforts on developing technologies that contribute to resolving social issues, promoting the public interest, and creating a new lifestyle and culture of wellness in the era of new normal in areas including smart aging to prepare for the aging society, big data, interaction and display for VR/AR, and advanced security based on artificial intelligence.
The proportion of the South Korean population over 65 reached 14.3% in 2018, indicating the nation has entered into an aging society. The proportion of elderly population is still rising rapidly each year, and the number of single senior households is also increasing as a result of divorce or widowhood. Accordingly ...
